Introduction
INNOVA BA201 FAQs
-
Do I need my phone to see test results?
No. The Battery Tester has its own 4.3" color screen and Green/Yellow/Red LED indicators that show the full result on-device — the app is only needed for saving, sharing, or accessing Repair Tips.
-
How is the Battery Tester powered — does it need batteries?
The clamps draw 6–24V DC directly from the vehicle battery being tested. The tester itself also runs on 3 AA batteries internally, which should be replaced when their voltage drops below 3.3V.
-
How do I update the Battery Tester’s firmware?
Go to Settings > Check for Update. Make sure the Battery Tester is connected to Wi-Fi before starting the update, and keep it connected throughout the entire update process. If an update is available, tap Update — the tester installs the update and restarts automatically.
-
What do the Battery Health Check results mean?
Results fall into four categories: Good Battery (healthy, retest every 90 days), Good – Recharge (healthy but needs a charge), Charge – Retest (recharge fully and retest; replace if it persists), and Replace Battery (indicates that the battery should be replaced; check connections and retest before replacing).
-
Can the Battery Tester test high-voltage batteries in Hybrid/Electric vehicles (HEVs)?
No. The Battery Tester is designed for 12-volt lead-acid batteries in conventional vehicles only. Per the product specifications, do not use it on Hybrid or Electric vehicles.
-
How many test reports can the Battery Tester store, and how do I retrieve older ones?
The tester stores the 15 most recent reports under Previous Vehicles; pairing with the RSPRO® app lets you save reports long-term and share them (e.g., via email).
-
How do I pair the Battery Tester with the RepairSolutionsPRO® app?
Turn on Bluetooth on your phone and power on the Battery Tester by connecting it to a battery. Make sure your phone is on Wi-Fi (required the first time), open the RSPRO® app, tap Continue, and select your tester on the Tool Pairing screen to complete pairing. Once paired, test data transfers automatically. Registered users can reconnect via Bluetooth alone afterward.
-
What battery types and standards does the Battery Tester support?
Flooded, AGM, and GEL 12V batteries, tested against seven standards — CCA, CA, JIS, EN, DIN, SAE, and IEC — with a CCA range of 100–2000.
