Innova 7111: How to Scan All Systems on your vehicle

Introduction

Description: To guide you on how to perform scanning of all systems while using the Innova 7111 Smart Diagnostic System (SDS) tablet scan tool.

Benefits: With the ongoing growth of the automotive industry, the usage and number of control modules are rising. As a result, faults in their operation are becoming harder to detect and repair, including both mechanical and electrical issues. To address this, we require a scan tool to communicate with our vehicles to read their Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) or fault codes. This is crucial when the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on the dashboard is illuminated.

Instructions

Note: This procedure is carried out on the 2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross.

Step 1: Connect the Innova 7111 to the vehicle via the 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC). Wait a moment for the AUTO-LINK process to be completed.

Connecting Innova 7111

After retrieving, the Innova 7111 gets general information such as VIN, vehicle information, and odometer. Next, select the OEM Diagnostics section.

Step 4: Select the desired system to check the DTCs.

Checking DTCs

The diagnostic result of this system is shown in the table including DTC, status, and description of the DTC.

There are 3 types of DTC status: Active, Pending, and History, which indicate the current status of the malfunction and are used to prioritize repairs. Active DTCs indicate a current problem, Pending DTCs indicate a potential problem that has not yet reached a certainty, and History DTCs indicate a problem that has been resolved. When diagnosing and fixing a problem, it's important to start with Active DTCs and then move to Pending and History DTCs as necessary.

Step 5: Once you have resolved all the DTCs in the vehicle, it is time to use the Erase All DTCs function to erase the codes and turn off the MIL or warning light located on your dashboard.

The scan tool will perform the clearing process. Afterward, you should select the Scan Again button to confirm that there are no DTCs present in your vehicle.
